Dear Families,
Here at Lakeside, we are determined, kind and striving to be legendary in countless ways. In the first five weeks of school, we welcomed 161 new kindergarten students and their families, hosted our first annual curriculum nights, kicked off our boys’ and girls’ volleyball season and held our major fundraiser of the year to name only a few accomplishments. Throughout it all our Sasquatch families have been kind, determined, and we are well on our way to being legendary.
Special congratulations to our school community for exceeding our Boosterthon goal of $75,000.00 this year. In fact, as of September 28, 2026, we have raised a total of $79,456. I want to thank all our parent volunteers, the PTO board, staff, students and, especially our chairpersons for the event, Mrs. Karen Albertini and Mrs. Melanie Martin. The two of them, along with many others, spent countless hours bringing it altogether! We could not have done it without you. As of now, we are less than $500.00 away from $80,000 . It looks like I am going to need to get ready to perform for the students soon.
In the next two months we have quite a bit going on including a candy drive, the fall book fair, Trunk or Treat, Jump Rope for Heart (American Heart Association) and much more. Make sure to regularly visit the school’s website, the PTO webpage, and read Parentsquare messages and emails that frequently come your way.
When I was a boy in school many a moon there was a saying, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.” Early on in my career I stumbled across a poem that best emphasizes the power of our words and the impact they have for good or for bad on each of us.
Sticks and Stones May Break My Bones, By: Herb Warren
"Sticks and stones my break my bones
But words could never hurt me."
And this I knew was surely true
And truth could not desert me.
But now I know it is not so.
I've changed the latter part;
For sticks and stones may break the bones
But words can break the heart.
Sticks and stones may break the bones
But leave the spirit whole,
But simple words can break the heart
Or silence crush the soul.
In closing, let’s all continue being determined to give our best and to choose kindness every day!
